I ordered a flask and was wondering if it would be OK to grow in a tank covered with glass which has a heating pad under a moisture pan in 1&1/2 inch pots and lighted by fluorescent tubes?

I would be cautious placing newly deflasked seedlings in an enclosed environment without airflow. That being said new seedlings require special care as far as moisture, humidity, temperature and light and can be quite the challenge. In any case, airflow is an integral portion of orchid culture in order to limit fungal problems. Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

You didn't say if the plants were still in the flask, and what size are they

The plants are being shipped without flasks and will let you know size when they arrive, later today.

I would also be careful with the heat mat. Too much heat in the situation you described will either cook or dry out the plants. Often the heat of the lights is enough for good growth.

Thanks you Rich, but do you think a heat pad (only on during the day) sitting under the outside of tank with moisture tray full of water will be harmful?
