Hello
I am new to the Society but have been growing orchids for over 20 years. I grow everything from Cattleya, Cymbidium, Vanda, Paphs, Oncidiums, hybrids, and species. I grow my plants in a greenhouse and also indoors in my house. I have been interested in hybridizing and have attempted to make a few crosses and was successful at getting a few pods that I sent off to a lab to flask. Unfortunately, I was not that successful in growing most of the seedlings up to flowering size. Can I suggest a topic for one of the meetings to be on how to make your own crosses and possible how to flask seeds and grow them up? If not, can anyone suggest someone that may be willing to teach me. I would love to learn how to flask my own seeds. It was very expensive to send to the lab that I found on the west coast.
Thank you.

I sent an inquiry to Tom at Green Earth Nursery.
http://www.greenearthnursery.net

According to their website Tom lectures on the following topic:
The Process of Creating and Growing Orchids from Seed
(many visual aides are used, including at least a couple orchids with pods, a timeline; from polination to bloom, flasks, and misc. equipment we use in sowing orchid seed in-vitro).

...stay tuned!
